  • It has two train-boarding platforms, four bus stops, and 20 taxi stands to pick up and drop off riders, along with hundreds of free parking spaces in its surroundings

The Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station will be open for the public from September 1, local reports have said.

The project, under the aegis of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority or RTA, would be opening well ahead of the beginning of the Expo 2020 Dubai events, said the local reports.

It is expected to enter service as the biggest underground station in the entire Dubai Metro network on both the Red and Green Lines.

The station reportedly spans an area of 28,700 sq m and extends 232 m in height.

It is expected to be able to serve 11,555 riders per hour during peak times, and about 250,000 riders per day.

It has two train-boarding platforms, four bus stops, and 20 taxi stands to pick up and drop off riders, said the reports.

It is also said to have 20 parking slots for the use of people of determination, as well as 400 public parking slots, all free of charge, surrounding the station.

The facility reportedly has 14 outlets for investors over an area of 466 sq m, in addition to four point-of-sale display areas for retailers.

According to the RTA, the exterior design of Route 2020 stations has a unique architectural pattern.

There is also the transfer station — Jebel Ali Station — linking Route 2020 and the Dubai Metro Red Line.
