Dubai wins crown in TRENDS poll on best city in GCC

According to the Numbeo Safety Index 2022, Dubai is the eighth safest country in the world.
  • The city won the first spot as 35 percent of the respondents said that they would prefer to live in the city of the future
  • Doha came in second (34 percent), followed by Riyadh (19 percent) and Abu Dhabi (12 percent)

Dubai, UAE–Dubai has many things to offer. Not only is it a business hub for investments, it has also been a tourist attraction for millions over the past years.

At the same time, the city has been the primary location for many families and expats who take pride in living in one of the safest and most luxurious cities in the world.

In this context, we asked our followers on TRENDS twitter account: “Where in the GCC would you like to live and work in 2025?”.

Sure, Dubai came in first since 35 percent of the respondents voted that they would prefer to live in the city of the future. Qatar’s capital, Doha came in second (34 percent), followed by Riyadh (19 percent) and Abu Dhabi for only (12 percent).

The poll respondents were from the UAE (36.6 percent), Qatar (24 percent), Bahrain (21 percent), Lebanon (15.6 percent), and Saudi Arabia (2.8 percent).

Why Dubai – UAE?

  • Safety:

According to the Numbeo Safety Index 2022, Dubai is the eighth safest country in the world. Similarly, Abu Dhabi topped the world, and Sharjah placed fourth.

Furthermore, Abu Dhabi’s safety index, at 88.67, was the highest, and its crime rate index, 11.36, was the lowest globally. Dubai ranked eighth on the list with a crime rate rating of 16.98 and a safety value of 83.02.

  • Residency as well

“Henley & Partners,” a British organization that specializes in citizenship and residence policy consultancy, released their “Global Index of Residency Programs 2023,” in which the United Arab Emirates rated first in the Middle East and North Africa region and 10th in the world.

The United Arab Emirates scored a perfect “10” on the “taxes” sub-index, “9” on the “reputation” sub-indicator, and “9” on both “investment requirements” and “the total cost of residence for foreigners,” bringing its overall score to 61 out of a possible 100.

  • Friendly for solo female travelers

In a recent research published earlier this month, travel insurance provider InsureMyTrip placed Dubai as the third safest city in the world for female tourists.

Condor Ferries conducted research and concluded that 84% of single travelers were women. Sixty-one percent of the women who took part in the poll who had traveled alone in the past indicated they planned to do it again within the following year.

Afterward, InsureMyTrip used multiple criteria to rank 66 global cities. Dubai ranked number three for security.

  • A blast for families

As of April of this year, Dubai has been named the best place in the world to take a family holiday by the users of the travel insurance review website InsureMyTrip. The quality of family-friendly hotels, tourist spots, and beaches were all covered. When considering factors like crime rate and ocean current strength, Dubai was given a 7.42 out of 10.

First and seventh place go to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, respectively. In addition to its low crime rate rating (11.36), Abu Dhabi boasted the best safety level (88.67).

Meanwhile, Dubai ranked 7th in both crime rate and safety, with an index of 16.98 and an index of 83.02, respectively.

The United Arab Emirates is a great place to bring your family, since it is home to more than 23% family-friendly hotels, 18% kid-friendly restaurants, and 30% kid-friendly activities and attractions.
