Dubai, UAE – Gen Z travellers in the UAE are reshaping the future of tourism, prioritizing cultural immersion, sustainability, and digital convenience, according to new research by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

The study, conducted by YouGov, found that nearly two-thirds (63%) of Gen Z respondents prefer accommodations that reflect local culture. Meanwhile, social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok are driving travel choices for 26% of them, with 79% already using or eager to use AI tools to plan their trips.

“This generation isn’t just travelling, they’re curating journeys that reflect their values, their identity, and their aspirations,” said Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Gen Z wants to connect with something bigger than themselves, to travel with purpose, but they also expect the flexibility and convenience to make it all happen on their own terms.”

The research also highlights a growing trend of women leading international travel, with 54% of Gen Z women reporting overseas trips in the past six months, compared to 34% of men. Safety and security remain key considerations, particularly for young women.

Sustainability is another priority, with more than half (55%) choosing eco-friendly transport options and over a third (36%) opting for environmentally conscious hotels.

Commenting on Wyndham’s approach, Manikis added, “Wyndham hotels across the region offer authentic cultural experiences, placing guests in the heart of great locations, while delivering personalised, sustainable stays that combine essential quality, convenience, and flexibility they can count on. For Gen Z, travel isn’t just about where you go – it’s about how it makes you feel.”

Wyndham operates a strong portfolio across the UAE, with properties like Wyndham Residences The Palm and TRYP by Wyndham Dubai offering experiences aligned with Gen Z’s values of authenticity, flexibility, and connection.
