  • The talks were held on the sidelines of the 5th International Conference on Health in Islamic Countries, in Tehran.
  • Iran-Oman Virtual Expo launched in late September by the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce 'has been well received'.

Oman and Iran have discussed ways to promote trade relations between the private sector in the two countries as well as cooperation in the field of medical tourism.

They also reviewed the preparations to organize the first virtual exhibition between the Sultanate and Iran.

Talks were held between Ridha Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Gholam Hossein Shafeie, President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), and Mohsen Zarrabi, Chairman of Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce.

The talks were held on the sidelines of the 5th International Conference on Health in Islamic Countries, in Tehran.

Tehran Times reported that during the meeting, Shafeie stressed the long history of political and economic relations between Iran and Oman and noted that the two countries have the capacity to expand their trade relations to a great extent.

He said the first Iran-Oman Virtual Expo was launched in late September by the Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with ICCIMA and has been well received.

The Expo, he said, was an opportunity to introduce the capabilities and the latest technological products and initiatives used in the industrial and manufacturing fields of the two countries.

Shafeie said issues related to banking relations for Iranian investors in Oman need to be resolved.

Al Saleh, according to Tehran Times, said a “lot of work must be done to achieve the set goals in the field of trade”.

“We lost two golden years due to the coronavirus outbreak and must work to compensate for them and increase the volume of trade between the two countries and remove obstacles,” he said.

On Friday, Al-Saleh held talks with Ali Najafi, the Iranian Ambassador to Oman, in Muscat. They exchanged views on the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
