Mwani Qatar posts 39% increase in transshipment containers

  • Mwani Qatar data released Wednesday revealed an increase in building and construction materials shipments by 21 percent.
  • Vehicles and equipment shipments on the other hand increased by 8 percent to reach 6,494 units.

Doha, Qatar — The Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) announced a 39 percent increase in transshipment containers in October, standing at about 119,448 TEU, compared to the same period last year.

Mwani Qatar data released Wednesday revealed an increase in building and construction materials shipments by 21 percent, reaching 54,678 tons, as well as an increase in livestock shipments by 47 percent, to reach 41,959 head of livestock.

Vehicles and equipment shipments on the other hand increased by 8 percent to reach 6,494 units.

The data showed that Mwani Qatar received 77,868 tons of general and bulk cargo shipments, while the number of shipping containers in October stood at 263 ships.
