Oil-waste fire in Dubai under control

  • Official sources said the oil waste disposal site was located far away from factories in the Jebel Ali Industrial area
  • This could have been one of the factors why no loss of life or injury was reported due to the fire

State-controlled emergency management organization Dubai Civil Defense said on Monday, October 18, that it had brought under control a fire that had broken out at an oil waste disposal site in Dubai.

The fire broke out at the site in Jebel Ali Industrial Area late in the morning on Monday.

Official sources said around 2.40 pm local time that the fire had been brought under control.

“No casualties have been reported,” said the official sources.

The sources also said that the site witnessed heavy smoke due to the burning of oil waste.

They clarified that the site of the oil waste disposal was located far away from factories in the Jebel Ali Industrial area — at a “deserted” site.

This could have been one of the factors why no loss of life or injury was reported due to the fire.

At the time of reporting, the official sources said Dubai Civil Defense personnel were carrying out cooling operations at the site.
