The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism Oman has organized a workshop for its tourism-sector partners from the United Arab Emirates, said local reports on Thursday, September 23.

The workshop was reportedly aimed at highlighting Oman’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai through the encapsulation of the country’s civilization throughout history.

The reports said Oman recently exempted the citizens of 103 countries from visas to enter the for a period of residency lasting up to 10 days, all in an effort to boost tourism activity.

Travel and tourism agencies and organizations from around the world are said to have welcomed the visa-free move.

They apparently said this would contribute to better inflow of tourists into Oman.

Meanwhile, Oman is expected to join 192 countries and regional and international organizations as they take part in Expo 2020 Dubai, which has the theme Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.

Oman’s Tourism Undersecretary Maithaa Saif Al Mahrouqi, in a speech at the aforementioned workshop, is said to have spoken about the salient features of the Omani pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

“Oman strives to make known its strategic projects and initiatives set for Oman Vision 2040,” she said.

The design of Oman’s pavilion at the expo is said to be inspired from the frankincense tree, which played a leading role in Omani trade with civilizations of the ancient world.
