Saudi, Uzbekistan sign cooperation pact in several energy sectors

  • The agreement was signed by the acting Minister of Energy Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed and the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Azim Ahmed Khojayev.

Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan have signed an agreement to develop cooperation and exchange information and experiences in all fields of energy though research and studies besides working on exchanging policies and laws related to these.

The agreement was signed by the acting Minister of Energy Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed and the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Azim Ahmed Khojayev on Thursday.

The agreement covers petroleum, gas, electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency, petrochemicals, hydrogen, and the circular carbon economy and its technologies aimed at limiting the effects of climate change, such as carbon capture, reuse, transport and storage.

The agreement also included promoting digital transformation and innovation in the field of energy, working to develop qualitative partnerships between the two parties to localize materials, products and services related to all energy sectors, supply chains and technologies.

Strengthening cooperation with specialized companies in the field of energy, cooperation in developing appropriate infrastructure for access to energy, and cooperation in developing sustainable hydrocarbon uses in the construction sector and other sectors are the other elements of the agreement.
