In the UAE, and the wider Arab world, many women have been successful in upturning the prevalent prejudice that a woman’s place is in the home. More and more women cognizant of their rights have distinguished themselves in various fields of life.

Their participation in the workforce has grown; in many Arab countries, women entrepreneurs are competing with men to distinguish their businesses. Many young women have important roles in government offices where they are a key part of policymaking.

Almost all young girls in MENA attend school, and more women than men are enrolled in university. Today, mothers are almost 3 times more likely to survive childbirth, compared to 20 years ago. Women make up 49.7% of some 350 million people in the Middle East and North Africa region.
