Yango offers a range of services to cater to diverse needs, including different tariffs with high-end cars and luxury vehicles. The ‘Business tariff’ features cars such as Lexus ES or Tesla Model 3, while the ‘Premier tariff’ offers luxury vehicles like GMC Yukon or BMW 7 Series, along with additional amenities for passengers. The Business XL tariff provides a spacious minivan suitable for groups of up to six passengers.

Yango’s Diverse Services in Dubai

Beyond ride-hailing, Yango extends its services to include last-mile delivery solutions, e-commerce technologies for retailers, a navigation app, and an AI Arabic-speaking assistant named Yasmina. These services are part of Yango’s broader vision to impact Dubai with smart technologies.

Islam Abdul Karim discusses Yango’s adaptation to Dubai’s cultural and regulatory environment. The company aligns with the UAE’s traffic laws and sustainability initiatives, integrating advanced safety features and introducing electric vehicles into its fleet. This approach supports the country’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Islam Abdul Karim noted that since transportation accounts for about 24 percent of global carbon emissions, Yango is addressing environmental concerns by incorporating electric vehicles (EVs) into its fleet. “This strategy is in line with the UAE’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” he said.

In an interview with TRENDS, Abdul Karim mentioned that approximately 15 percent of Yango’s partner fleet currently consists of EVs. “This move aims to reduce carbon emissions and meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation options, reflecting Yango’s compliance with Dubai’s unique needs and regulations,” he pointed out.

Yango also recognizes local customs and community engagement, as seen during Ramadan, when the company doubled fees for drivers and provided Iftar boxes.

Moreover, Yango’s use of advanced technology, including AI and machine learning for mapping, routing, and navigation, is central to its operations. These systems optimize route planning for efficiency and reduced environmental impact. The introduction of Yasmina, an AI-powered route monitoring system, is part of Yango’s effort to enhance safety standards in ride-hailing services.

Speaking about Dubai’s dynamic innovation ecosystem, Islam Abdul Karim, advising startups to understand local cultural and regulatory frameworks and to embrace innovation.

He stressed the importance of adapting business models to meet the unique needs of Dubai’s diverse and rapidly evolving economy, building strong local partnerships, and using technology effectively in this market.

“Yango is planning to expand its operations within the UAE and is projected to see ride-hailing users reach 3.25 million by 2027,” Abdul Karim said.

He also revealed plans for Yango to open its global operational office in Dubai by 2024, as part of a broader growth strategy that includes expansion in the UAE and other regions like Ethiopia.

As Yango continues its operations in Dubai, its journey highlights the impact of technology, cultural understanding, and commitment to quality in a competitive market.
