Zain KSA launches campaign to protect children from harmful online practices

    • Internet Monsters campaign portrays villains from classic fairy tales as evil digital characters

    • The campaign is an extension of the Zain-UNICEF partnership for child protection activities

Saudi Arabia’s leading telecom company Zain KSA has launched its “Internet Monsters” campaign on various digital platforms and social media sites to create awareness about child online safety.

A statement issued by the company said the campaign comes at a time when about 30 percent of all internet users were children.

To ensure engagement and effectiveness of its approach, Zain KSA’s online campaign puts a creative modern twist on the classic fairy-tale characters, giving a window into the reality of the digital world.

Through the portrayal of the villains as evil digital characters, the campaign cultivates awareness of the dangers of the internet, the statement said.

The company said it aims to help children understand the dangerous risks that they might face online by introducing effective ways to counter them and to ensure their protection.

Commenting on the campaign, Zain KSA’s chief communication officer Rayan Al Turki said “our role is to try everything within our reach” to protect children from online threats, particularly when misusing the internet which can incite deviance and violence among youngsters.

He also underscored the importance of collaborating with parents and caregivers to boost children’s awareness of this issue and ensure that the campaigns’ goals are achieved.

“Internet Monsters” campaign is part of Zain Group’s partnership with UNICEF, which is aimed at promoting child protection activities.
