Arab Parliament meet discusses strategy to tackle child exploitation

The Council of Oman, representing the Oman Sultanate participated in the deliberations of the Arab Parliament’s preparatory committees on Tuesday, scheduled to be held this Thursday during the second session of the second sitting of the third legislative term in Amman, Jordan.

Omani media reports said the meeting discussed the memorandum of the Secretariat General of the Arab Parliament on preparing a unified Arab strategy to combat child exploitation and labor.

Hasan Ali Al Madhani, Member of the State Council, chaired the deliberations of the Joint Committee on Sustainable Development.

Al Madhani gave a presentation on the participation of the Arab Region Parliamentary Forum on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the reports said.

Said Hamad Al Sa’adi, Deputy Chairman of Shura Council and member of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament, also participated in the deliberations of the committee’s meetings.

Humaid Ali Al Nasri, a member of Shura Council and member of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee of the Arab Parliament, participated in the deliberations of the relevant committee meeting.

The committee’s members reviewed the updates on the preparation for the Arab Forum on the requirements for enhancing economic integration among Arab countries, as well as the role of the private sector in promoting intra-trade, said sources.

Sheikh Ali Nasser Al Mahrouqi, a member of the State Council and member of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee, also participated in the relevant committee meeting.

The meeting discussed the draft Arab guiding law on combating violence against women, and a study of developing a mechanism and framework to support Arab legislation on preserving the environment according to the Arab initiatives and the Middle East Green Initiative.

Vice-President of the Arab Parliament and Head of the Sustainable Development Committee Hassan Al Madhani will present the most prominent decision adopted by the Committee namely “Arab Parliamentary Network for Sustainable Development.”

The decision aims at strengthening Arab parliamentary communication mechanisms, and exchanging experiences with organizations and committees concerned with sustainable development.

Al Madhani will give the presentation in the main session of the Arab Parliament, scheduled to be held this Thursday.
