GCC women diplomats play vital role in fostering peace

Riyadh – The GCC women play an essential role in nurturing generations after generations and serving as the backbone of families, said Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), while congratulating women diplomats on the occasion of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy (IDWID).

Emphasizing their significant diplomatic contributions at regional and global levels, Albudaiwi noted that GCC women play a decisive role in fostering inter-country relations and promoting peace.

Recognizing the strength, creativity, leadership skills, and adept negotiation capabilities of women diplomats, Albudaiwi acknowledged their active participation in international summits and negotiations, facilitating diplomatic communications, and advancing regional peace and stability.

Albudaiwi commended the commitment of GCC leaders to gender equality and supporting women’s roles in decision-making.

He stressed that GCC member states have provided unwavering support, creating inclusive and supportive work environments for women diplomats while removing obstacles and ensuring their success in fulfilling their duties.

Expressing admiration for the remarkable achievements of GCC women diplomats, Albudaiwi highlighted their representation of their countries in international forums and their invaluable contributions to global peace, security, and cultural understanding. He emphasized the diplomatic women’s instrumental role in achieving common goals, enhancing Gulf integration, and promoting economic, political, and security cooperation among GCC countries.

Albudaiwi affirmed the General Secretariat of the GCC’s commitment to encouraging and motivating women diplomats in shaping foreign policies and actively participating in diplomatic decision-making processes.

He expressed confidence that their capabilities and extensive knowledge would strengthen the GCC member states’ foreign relations and enhance their international standing.

Furthermore, Albudaiwi recalled the recent establishment of the GCC Women Affairs Standing Committee, which held its inaugural meeting in Muscat on May 16.

He underscored the committee’s vital role in highlighting the exceptional efforts of women in the GCC countries, coordinating positions in international women-focused forums, and promoting policies, regulations, and laws that support women in all fields.
