DUBAI — The World Governments Summit (WGS) Organization serves as a pivotal catalyst for global efforts to shape the future, said Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Vice Chair of the WGS Organization, emphasizing the importance of partnerships and fostering worldwide dialogue.

He also underscored the UAE’s leadership vision to bolster positive international cooperation. This sentiment was echoed during the Ambassadors Retreat, an event organized by the World Governments Summit Organization in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at bringing together diplomatic missions. The Retreat saw participation from over 200 top-tier officials, including ministers, government representatives, ambassadors, and heads of diplomatic missions in the UAE.

Al Olama highlighted that the World Governments Summit acts as a nexus, uniting government officials, international organizations, business magnates, community institutions, scholars, and innovators. This collective aims to set trends, foresee changes, and proactively tackle challenges with innovative solutions.

He further noted that advancements in technology and artificial intelligence offer a portal to boundless future prospects. These opportunities necessitate collective endeavors to harness, cultivate, and navigate their trajectories.

Al Olama stressed the Summit’s ongoing commitment to fostering an environment conducive to positive international collaboration and partnerships, all in the pursuit of advancing human development.

Distinguished attendees represented a spectrum of fields related to the evolving future dynamics. Notable figures included Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future, and Vice Chair of the WGS Organization, and Khalid Abdullah Humaid Belhoul, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Khaled Abdullah Belhoul reiterated the ministry’s dedication to amplifying the UAE’s global presence. He championed the nation’s mission centered on broadening global cooperation and partnerships, empowering governments and communities to align with global shifts.

Belhoul described the World Governments Summit as the quintessential platform for nurturing partnerships and fostering global collaboration. The Ambassadors Retreat, he said, stands as a pivotal annual conclave geared towards bolstering international cooperation, facilitated by open dialogue and brainstorming sessions with global diplomats.

A notable session during the Retreat, “Reimagining Collaboration in the Wake of Change,” spotlighted the essence of partnerships spanning governments, international entities, and the private sector. Speakers included Sufyan El-Issa of the International Financial Corporation (IFC), Anthony Nakache from Google MENA, and Mohamed Al Sharhan of the World Governments Summit, with Mona Abu Hanna moderating.

Participants delved into the intricacies of international cooperation, the Summit’s role as a global platform, and the indispensable function of diplomacy in sculpting international collaboration frameworks. Discussions also encompassed the global economic milieu and its interwoven ties with future imperatives.

El-Issa offered insights into the economy’s symbiotic relationship with global collaboration, emphasizing the IFC’s recognition of cross-sector partnerships. “Our alliance with the World Governments Summit underscores the significance of collaborative efforts in tackling global challenges and envisioning a sustainable future,” he remarked.

Mohamed Al Sharhan lauded the platform’s transformative role, emphasizing that collaboration is the linchpin for a brighter future.

The retreat also featured an interactive workshop with diplomatic mission heads in the UAE, focusing on the upcoming World Governments Summit, its themes, and the global agenda for governmental priorities and emerging trends.

In a novel initiative, the World Governments Summit launched the Global Ministers Survey to gauge ministers’ perspectives worldwide on their primary concerns. This survey will facilitate data collection, culminating in a comprehensive report offering insights, recommendations, and innovative concepts to aid governmental decision-making processes for the future.
