Muscat, Oman – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries met here on Thursday to address the obstacles affecting inter-country trade and to discuss the establishment of a common market.
The 64th meeting between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Trade Cooperation Committee and Committee for Standardization Affairs was attended by the GCC ministers of commerce and industry and GCC Secretary General Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi.
The countries also discussed negotiations with other countries and international blocs.
The Committee for Standardization Affairs reviewed its workflow and emphasized the need for cooperation in standardization fields.
The commerce and industry ministers held a consultative meeting with the heads of the federations of the GCC chambers to discuss opportunities to enhance cooperation in the fields of business incubators, commercial franchising, and supply chains.
Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi held bilateral meetings with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani and Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Al-Aiban.
The meeting underscored the importance of ensuring imported and exported products comply with sound technical requirements to enhance the competitiveness of Gulf products.
