The number in 2020 was JD4.637 billion ($6.59 billion), which means the tax collection in 2021 was 12 percent higher.

In a statement, ISTD Director General Hossam Abu Ali said that the sales tax in 2021 reached JD4.037 billion ($5.69 billion), up from JD3.534 billion ($4.98 billion) in 2020.

This, Ali said was an increase in sales tax collection of 14 percent.

Abu Ali attributed the increases to the impact of resuming economic activities, economic growth, and tax reforms.
