To curb tax evasion in Jordan, the Senate’s Finance and Economic Committee has approved a slew of amendments to the General Sales Tax Law 2021, referred to them by the Lower House.
According to Jamal Sarayrah, head of the committee, amendments seek to achieve reform in mechanisms to pay tax in order to align it with global practices and to bring about reduction in tax evasion.
The draft law seeks to help lessen tax evasion and avoidance, by addressing loopholes used by some taxpayers and tackling problems related to delay in refunding sales tax.
Sarayrah noted the committee agreed to develop a set of recommendations on the the draft law, which would be then submitted to Senate’s presidency for deliberation.
