Omani authorities have got a peek at the first draft of a roadmap that is expected to lead the country towards green economy.
Oman’s Environment Authority and Petroleum Development Oman have reportedly discussed it with the United Nations Environment Program.
The UNEP experts are said to have outlined the roadmap to EA and PDO during a virtual meeting that the Omani entities organized.
The first draft reportedly included the road ahead for the buildings, water, manufacturing, transportation, waste, and energy sectors.
During the virtual meeting, EA Chairman Abdullah Ali Al Amri is said to have stressed the importance of green economy for the country.
He also highlighted his country’s efforts in diversifying economic resources, enhancing knowledge and innovation and improving legislations and incentives systems.
UNEP Regional Director Sami Demasi, who is also representative of the UNEP in West Asia, is said to have lauded Oman’s commitment to list economic diversity and environmental sustainability as national priorities in Oman Vision 2040.
