Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia, through its Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), has initiated the first phase of the Skill Verification Program (SVP) in Egypt.

The collaborative effort with the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower aims to improve the proficiency of professional labor and raise the standard of services offered in Saudi Arabia’s job market, Saudi Gazette reported.

In its inaugural phase, the SVP will focus on evaluating skills in five key professions: plumbing, electrical work, welding, automotive mechanics, and carpentry. However, plans are underway to expand this initiative to encompass additional professional fields in subsequent phases.

The SVP, part of a series of international endeavors by the Ministry, initially commenced in Pakistan back in September 2022. Following its success there, it extended to India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. This program ensures that workers possess the necessary expertise required for their respective professions before entering the Saudi labor market. Candidates must pass both theoretical and practical examinations conducted at authorized centers in their home countries.

By aligning with global standards, the SVP aims to cultivate a skilled workforce that meets the demands of the Saudi job market while also enhancing service quality and productivity.
