LONDON – Public and private sector collaboration, both locally and globally, are crucial to advance education and equip future generations with advanced skills, said UAE’s Education Minister Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi.

He stressed the significance of sharing experiences, expertise, and forming partnerships to improve various aspects of the educational process.

Al Falasi made these remarks while visiting several UK-based educational institutions during his participation in the Bett EdTech exhibition and conference, which took place from January 24th to 26th. The focus of the event was on enhancing the education sector.

“During the meetings, we showcased the UAE’s commitment to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the education system. We are dedicated to supporting scientific research and innovation through strategic partnerships and pioneering initiatives, focusing on future-oriented sciences for students,” he said.

Al Falasi toured the UK’s Department for Education, the London Design and Engineering University Technical College, the Baker Dearing Educational Trust, the UK Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services, and Skills (Ofsted). During his visits, he met with officials from these educational bodies and discussed key topics such as elevating the EdTech sector, fostering collaboration in curriculum development, training educators, and enhancing student exchange programs.

While in London, Dr. Al Falasi also met with Emirati students on scholarships at UK higher education institutions, gaining insights into their academic journeys and listening to inspiring stories from their scholarship experiences.

He encouraged them to view their scholarships as journeys of knowledge and to become ambassadors for the UAE’s educated and cultured community. Emphasizing the Ministry of Education’s commitment, he assured full support for the students throughout their studies abroad.

Currently, 308 Emirati students are on scholarships in the UK, pursuing academic degrees at some of the world’s top-ranked universities in key fields such as medicine and surgery, engineering, business administration and finance, as well as physics and astrophysics.
