Saudi Foreign Minister visiting Pakistan today to repair ties

    • Al Saud will exchange views on bilateral relations, regional and international issues with his Pakistani counterpart Qureshi

    • He will leading a delegation comprising senior officials of the Saudi government

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud is arriving today for a day-long visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He will leading a delegation comprising senior officials of the Saudi government.

Al Saud’s trip follows months after Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia in a bid to mend ties.

“During the visit, the two foreign ministers will exchange views on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional and international issues. The Saudi Foreign Minister will call on other dignitaries as well during the visit,” Pakistan Foreign Office  said about the visit.

Pakistan foreign office added that the visit holds “special significance in the backdrop of the recent visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia in May 2021”.

“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long-standing and historic fraternal relations, rooted deep in common faith, shared history and mutual support. The relationship is marked by close cooperation in all fields and mutual collaboration on regional and international issues,” the Pakistan Foreign Office said.

The visit also comes amid the worsening situation in Afghanistan where the Taliban is trying to take control of the nation as US and NATO troops are scheduled to pull out  by the end of August
