UAE allocates US$5m for UN’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza

ABU DHABI, UAE – As per the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced that the UAE has allocated US$5 million to support the efforts of the United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed on the UAE’s keenness to support the humanitarian operations being carried out by the United Nations in the Gaza Strip.

He said that the UAE will support Sigrid Kaag, the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza in her efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people.

On Friday, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met Kaag, who is on a visit to the UAE, where they reviewed the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

They also reviewed ways to address civilian suffering and to meet their needs.

In this regard, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also stressed on the necessity of a ceasefire and ensuring that humanitarian relief and medical aid reaches the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip urgently.

He also stressed on the need to prevent further loss of life and avoid inflaming the situation in the Palestinian territory.
