Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Israel is not happy with the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh and is actively seeking to disrupt it, Alireza Enayati, Iran’s new ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said in an interview with Iran’s al-Alam news network.

“Many of our friends and brothers welcomed the restoration of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia,” he said.

He, however, added that “when cooperation between all regional countries is reinforced, no element can disrupt it.”

Enayati praised the role of China in facilitating the resumption of Tehran-Riyadh ties following high-stakes talks between the two sides in Beijing.

Following extensive and high-stakes discussions held in Beijing, the two nations reached an agreement on March 10 to restore their ties and reopen embassies and missions. This significant breakthrough came after a seven-year period of estrangement between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The negotiations, which took place over several days, demonstrated China’s commendable efforts in promoting dialogue and diplomacy in the region.

Enayati emphasized the significance of fostering a productive collaboration and and prioritize the issue of regional security based on economic, commercial, social and cultural development.

He contended that when all countries in the region strengthen their cooperation, no external factor or entity can undermine its stability and effectiveness.
