Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday said that improving the economic and bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan while ensuring the interests of all the parties will bring about security in the region.
Speaking on Monday in a phone call initiated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President Raisi congratulated him on the birthday of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the New Year.
Raisi called for continuous communication and dialogue between the two countries at different levels.
The president further said that one of the key policies of Iran is to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries including that of Armenia.
Emphasizing Iran’s readiness to increase trade activities in Armenia, President Raisi underscored that the level of economic exchanges between the two countries is less than their existing capacities. He called for the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission to become more active and take big steps to ensure the interests of the two states.
Raisi welcomed the progress in the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and hoped that the issues between the two countries will be resolved peacefully within the framework of international principles and law.
Pashinyan stressed the seriousness of his country in the comprehensive development of relations with Iran. He said that Armenia is determined to make the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation more active than before.
