Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – A delegation of Saudi Arabia discussed steps to enhance cooperation in maritime transport and ports with South Korea, local media reports said.
Led by Saleh Al-Jasser, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, the delegation visited South Korea and met Cho Seung-hwan, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries.
The two parties inked a deal to promote mutual recognition of the certificate of competency of seafarers from both countries, said reports.
The agreement is likely to streamline the seafarers’ business process flows between Saudi Arabia and Korea.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti also held a meeting with Al-Jasser.
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transport and transportation and ways to promote them.
Both meetings highlight the importance of strengthening cooperation between Gulf countries and their global partners in promoting maritime transport and logistics services, as well as the need for more streamlined business process flows.
