Doha, Qatar – Marco Verratti, the 30-year-old Italian international midfielder, is edging closer to a move to the Qatari top-flight, according to a report from L’Équipe.

An agreement between Al Arabi and PSG has reportedly been reached for the transfer of Verratti, who has been a part of the Parisian club for 11 years. The details of the deal seem to be in place, pending only the finalization of terms between the player and the Qatari club.

Verratti joined the Parisian club from “Pescara”. The transfer fee amounted to 12 million euros. In total, Verratti has played 416 matches for PSG in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 61 assists.

Verratti’s potential departure could pave the way for another player to make a move. Julian Draxler, a 29-year-old German midfielder, has also made headlines amid reports of his potential exit from PSG. Draxler’s situation at PSG had been uncertain following his return from a loan spell at Benfica.

Earlier this week, news emerged that Draxler had received an offer from English club Crystal Palace, as revealed by RMC Sport. However, according to L’Équipe, this offer has been turned down, suggesting that Draxler may be seeking alternative destinations for his footballing career. Similar to Verratti, Draxler is also reported to have received offers from clubs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The developments surrounding Verratti and Draxler underline PSG’s ongoing efforts to reshape their squad and address their roster dynamics. While Verratti’s potential move to Qatar seems imminent pending the finalization of personal terms, Draxler’s situation remains fluid as he evaluates his options beyond Crystal Palace.
