Pakistan is continuing to play a behind-the-scenes diplomatic role between the United States and Iran as tensions remain high over the ongoing conflict and negotiations.
According to reports from Islamabad, Pakistan has been acting as an intermediary between Washington and Tehran. “Every time the Americans want to talk to the Iranians, they do it through Pakistan – and likewise when Iran wants to send a message [to the US],” Kamal Hyder reported from Islamabad.
The communication channels between the two sides remain active at a crucial moment, coinciding with the Pakistani interior minister’s two-day visit to Tehran.
Pakistan has encouraged both sides to continue negotiations but has also warned that “time is of the essence”. The urgency comes amid growing pressure from Washington, with US President Donald Trump recently stating that “the clock is ticking”.
Attention is now focused on how Iran’s latest proposal will be received in Washington as diplomatic efforts intensify.
‘No reason for US, Iran to not find common ground,’ says Turkish FM
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said Ankara believes the United States and Iran can still resolve the conflict through diplomacy.
Speaking during a press conference in Berlin, Fidan said there was “no reason for the United States and Iran not to find common ground” to end the war through negotiations.
He added that Turkiye’s immediate priority was supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts and helping maintain the ceasefire.
Fidan also said Turkiye wanted to believe that both Tehran and Washington understood the risks involved in allowing the conflict to escalate again.
Hezbollah claims attacks on Israeli army in southern Lebanon

In a statement, the group said its fighters launched attacks on Israeli army positions in the south and claimed to have downed “an enemy aircraft belonging to the Israeli enemy army” over the town of Aita al-Jabal at approximately 10:30am local time.
The Israeli army had not commented on the claims at the time of reporting.
Hezbollah also said it targeted the vehicle of the commander of the Israeli army’s 300th Brigade in the town of Shomera in northern Israel. In a separate attack, the group claimed it struck an Israeli military position in Maroun al-Ras using drones.
Trump says ‘not open’ to offering concessions to Iran
US President Donald Trump has said he is currently unwilling to offer concessions to Iran as negotiations over ending the conflict remain uncertain.
Speaking to The New York Post, Trump said Iran knows “what’s going to be happening soon”, while expressing disappointment with Tehran’s latest response to Washington.
When asked about his remarks on Friday suggesting he could support a 20-year pause on Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump clarified his position.
“I’m not open to anything right now,” he responded.
Trump warns Iran to ‘move fast’ or face consequences
US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying Tehran must act quickly or risk severe consequences.
“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Iranian media says US offered ‘no concessions’ in latest proposal
Iran’s Mehr news agency has claimed Washington failed to offer any meaningful concessions in its latest response to Tehran’s proposed framework for negotiations aimed at ending the war.
“The United States, offering no tangible concessions, wants to obtain concessions that it failed to obtain during the war, which will lead to an impasse in the negotiations,” the agency said.

Iran says US global dominance has ‘collapsed’ after war
Iran’s Defence Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said the US-Israeli war on Iran has altered the global balance of power and accelerated the decline of American influence.
“In the third imposed war, America’s global hegemony has collapsed. The Iranian nation and armed forces remain ready to respond decisively to any threat or aggression,” Reza Talaei-Nik was quoted as saying by Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency.
“American unilateralism is reaching its end, and the world, relying on the [February 28, 2026] Ramadan War and the brave resistance and defence of the Iranian nation, is moving toward multilateralism, which will replace American unilateralism.”
