Youth account for over 30 percent of EWEC workforce, utility says

  • Utility expands graduate, AI and leadership training to build skills for UAE's energy transition.
  • EWEC said its two-year graduate development programme includes departmental rotations, technical training and mentoring.

Dubai, UAE — Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) said young professionals now make up more than 30 percent of its workforce, underscoring its focus on developing talent to support the UAE’s transition to cleaner energy.

Marking World Youth Skills Day, the company said its graduate programmes are designed to build expertise in renewable energy integration, low-carbon water technologies, artificial intelligence, big data, system modelling and innovation.

EWEC said its two-year graduate development programme includes departmental rotations, technical training and mentoring from senior leaders, while employees also receive training through platforms including Udacity, Coursera and the company’s Talent Hub.

The utility said it also develops leadership capabilities through initiatives such as its Empower and Inspire Leadership Programme, aimed at strengthening strategic thinking, resilience and management skills.

EWEC said investments in graduate, technical and leadership development are intended to prepare young professionals to operate advanced energy and water systems while supporting the UAE’s long-term economic diversification and decarbonisation goals.
