DUBAI, UAE – Equestrianism is not merely a sport to be celebrated, but an integral part of the UAE’s heritage, said Mariam Almheiri, the Gulf country’s Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, highlighting the cultural significance of horse racing in the UAE and the Arab region.
She was speaking at the Dubai International Equestrian Conference, which was held concurrently with the 20th Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship from March 17 to 19 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Almheiri also noted that the love of horses is inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The conference, held under the theme ‘’A touch of loyalty and gratitude .. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid: 50 years of giving to equestrianism,” ws attended by a number of senior equestrian officials.
It included Sheikha Hessa bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, as well as horse owners, breeders, stables and clubs, businessmen, professional investors, experts, scientists, veterinarians, stylists, feed specialists, and other professionals.
The goal of the conference was to discuss the latest trends in equine sports and industry.
