Abu Dhabi, UAE – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed strategic relations in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

Sheikh Mohamed underscored the importance of maintaining stability in Russia and ensuring the safety and security of its people. President Putin expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved in various bilateral areas, highlighting growing UAE-Russia relations.

Addressing recent tensions in Russia, the UAE expressed deep concern about a military rebellion that poses a threat of further escalation and instability in the region. A statement released by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) called for de-escalation and self-restraint while stressing the significance of preserving the unity and stability of the Russian Federation to achieve security and prosperity for its citizens.

During a working visit to St. Petersburg earlier this month, Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the importance of communication and dialogue in supporting regional and international stability and peace. He reiterated the UAE’s principled position, advocating de-escalation and a negotiated political solution to the Ukraine crisis. The UAE President also emphasized the need to expedite efforts to address the humanitarian consequences of the crisis and supported prisoner-exchange initiatives.

The discussions between Sheikh Mohamed and President Putin centered on the longstanding relations within the UAE-Russia strategic partnership framework. Both leaders expressed their ongoing commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties.
