Saudi Arabia invites EoIs for Juranah water reservoir project

    • SWPC is looking for a partner to help it develop the reservoir, located in the Makkah region, so it can reach its storage capacity of 2.5 million cu m

    • The project will reportedly be implemented on a BOOT model: build, own, operate and transfer model

Saudi Water Partnership Company has invited expressions of interest for the Juranah independent strategic water reservoir, said local reports on Monday, July 19.

SWPC is looking for a partner to help it develop the reservoir, located in the Makkah region, so it can reach its storage capacity of 2.5 million cu m, said the reports.

The project will reportedly be implemented on a BOOT model: build, own, operate and transfer model.

Its development work is expected to include the water reservoir and all associated infrastructure and facilities.

SWPC was quoted by the reports as saying that it would select a private sector developer, or a consortium of such developers, for the project following a competitive tender process.

This entity would reportedly be responsible for the development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of the water reservoir.

The bidder, through a special-purpose vehicle, would be expected to provide the required storage capacity to SWPC under a 30-year water-storage agreement.

SWPC was quoted by the reports as saying that the Saudi government would back the utility company’s obligations under the agreement with a credit support agreement.
