Saudi Arabia will automatically extend the validity of residence permits for expatriates outside the country until August 31, local reports have said.
It will also extend the validity of visit visas and exit and re-entry visas without fees, said the reports.
Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports is reportedly carrying out these extensions.
The extension was issued by the Minister of Finance and comes among the continuing efforts of the country to deal with the effects and repercussions of Covid-19 pandemic, said the local reports.
It also falls within precautionary and preventive measures for the safety of citizens and residents and contribute to mitigating financial and economic impacts, they added.
The directorate indicated that the extension would be carried out electronically in cooperation with the National Information Centre without the need to visit the departments of passports.
The process will reportedly begin with extending till August 31 the validity of residence permits as well as exit and re-entry visas for residents who are in countries from where entry is suspended as a result of Covid-19.
The second part is expected to involve extending till August 31 the validity of visit visas for visitors who are in countries from where entry is suspended as a result of the pandemic.
