Saudi hobbyists can do a lot at this online platform

    • Hawi will make it easier for amateur clubs to establish their teams and register members.

    • The platform will support symposiums and lectures related to hobbies in the kingdom and abroad.

JEDDAH: An online platform aimed at raising awareness about the importance of hobbies and to encourage communication among those who share the same interests has been launched in Saudi Arabia.
Named Hawi, the platform will also ensure operational and financial support for amateurs, local media reported.
A pilot version of Hawi, which has been produced for the Saudi Amateur Clubs Association, was launched by the Quality of Life Program’s Center, the supervisory authority for hobbies in the Kingdom.
The reports quoted the director of the association Najlaa Al-Ajmi as saying that the platform has been developed to establish communities that share the same interests under an official umbrella, making it easier for clubs to establish their teams and register members.
The platform will benefit the members by promoting healthy lifestyles, establishing a balance between work and social life and allowing amateurs to practice their hobbies in an adequate environment, she added.
At Hawi, people can establish and register amateur clubs, manage members and their activities, define the regulations of the sector, reserve facilities and organize training courses.
The platform will support symposiums and lectures related to hobbies in the Kingdom and abroad besides the exchange of international expertise between clubs and other institutions.
Developing hobbies sector was one of the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Quality of Life Program, which was launched in 2018 to improve the quality of life of residents and visitors to the Kingdom “by developing the necessary environment to create more vibrant options that enhance the participation and experience of citizens and residents”.
