Dubai, UAE — AD Ports Group has launched an integrated logistics service linking the UAE’s Khalifa Port with Iraq’s Umm Qasr Port, as the state-backed operator seeks to strengthen regional trade corridors and expand connectivity across the Gulf and Levant.
The new service includes a direct weekly shipping route between the two ports and is designed to accommodate growing container and roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo volumes, the company said on Friday.
AD Ports said the route would enhance trade flows between Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and the UAE, while also strengthening links with wider Gulf Cooperation Council markets, Türkiye and Europe.
The launch forms part of the group’s broader strategy to expand its integrated logistics network and support the movement of goods across key regional markets.
Weekly service to support trade flows
The company said the new corridor would provide businesses with greater access to diversified trade routes and logistics solutions, helping improve supply chain efficiency and operational resilience.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of AD Ports Group, said the initiative reflected the company’s commitment to expanding its logistics ecosystem and strengthening regional connectivity.
He said the service would support sustainable growth by improving access to strategic trade corridors and facilitating the flow of goods across the region.
Infrastructure in place at both ports
AD Ports said it has established the necessary logistics capabilities at both Khalifa Port and Umm Qasr Port to support the storage, handling and movement of cargo.
The enhanced infrastructure is expected to improve operational performance, enable smoother cargo flows and strengthen long-term supply chain resilience, the company said.
The group added that the service aligns with its efforts to develop strategic transport and logistics routes that improve market access and create new opportunities for businesses operating across the Middle East and beyond.
