The World Governments Summit Organisation and the World Travel & Tourism Council have launched a strategic partnership to advance global dialogue on the future of travel and tourism and strengthen cooperation between governments and the private sector.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the two organisations will establish a framework for exchanging knowledge, expertise and international best practices, while developing joint initiatives and projects aimed at supporting a more resilient and sustainable tourism sector.
The partnership will also provide a platform for governments, business leaders, experts and international institutions to discuss challenges and opportunities facing travel and tourism and develop policies that respond to global changes.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the World Governments Summit, said international partnerships can help translate global dialogue into practical policies and initiatives that address shared challenges.
He said the agreement with WTTC would support more flexible and sustainable policies while strengthening travel and tourism’s role in economic growth, investment, job creation and international cooperation.
The agreement was signed by Mohammad Yousef Al Sharhan, managing director of the World Governments Summit Organisation, and Gloria Guevara, president and CEO of WTTC.
The organisations will cooperate on global dialogues and strategic events, as well as joint reports, studies, research and priority initiatives.
Guevara said the travel and tourism sector achieves its strongest results when governments and the private sector work towards a shared vision.
She said the partnership would help strengthen resilience, accelerate sustainable growth and unlock the sector’s potential to drive economic growth, create jobs and increase connectivity between economies and communities.
Al Sharhan said the cooperation would strengthen global dialogue on tourism, development, governance and international cooperation, while supporting efforts to anticipate future transformations.
The partnership positions the World Governments Summit as a platform connecting governments and the private sector to shape the future of travel and tourism and develop future-ready policies.
