Trump warns Iran faces deal or ‘blow them up’

  • Britain says Iran may be linked to RAF Fairford plot, while Tehran rejects the allegation and US forces enforce maritime restrictions.
  • Meanwhile, US Central Command said its forces had redirected 125 commercial vessels as part of efforts to enforce compliance with the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

US President Donald Trump said the United States faces a choice between reaching a deal with Iran or “blow them up”, as the conflict continues alongside diplomatic efforts.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said American forces had “destroyed” Iran’s military and crippled its nuclear ambitions, adding to the pressure on Tehran.

Britain also said there were “strong indications” that Iran was involved in an alleged plot at RAF Fairford, a British airbase used by US forces. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the investigation remained ongoing. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected the allegation.

The suspected plot involved five British men in their 20s who were arrested near the airbase on terrorism and explosives-related suspicions before being released on bail. Reuters reported that investigators were examining possible foreign-state involvement, while no viable explosives were found in three vans linked to the suspects.

Meanwhile, US Central Command said its forces had redirected 125 commercial vessels as part of efforts to enforce compliance with the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran is also seeking stronger ties with China as US sanctions continue to target entities accused of supporting Tehran’s military. Iranian Finance Minister Ali Madanizadeh told China’s ambassador that Tehran was determined to deepen cooperation in industrial investment, technology, clean energy, digital economy and logistics.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi received a US response through Qatari mediators to Tehran’s proposed seven-day trust-building plan, which includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz under conditions set by Iran.

The proposal followed US rejection of an earlier Iranian offer concerning the Strait, while Qatar continues shuttle diplomacy between Washington and Tehran.
