Aramco acquires 49% stake in Saudi Arabia’s AI company HUMAIN

  • Aramco will contribute $2.6 billion in cash and transfer AI assets, while PIF retains majority ownership with a 51% stake.
  • HUMAIN plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, targeting growing regional and global demand.

Saudi Aramco has acquired a 49% stake in Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence company HUMAIN, with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) retaining a 51% majority stake, as the kingdom accelerates investment in AI infrastructure and technology.

The transaction, announced by PIF and Aramco following its completion, will bring together AI assets, capabilities and talent from both shareholders to accelerate HUMAIN’s expansion and strengthen its position in the global AI market.

Aramco, through a wholly owned subsidiary, will contribute approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash to HUMAIN in 2026, alongside the transfer of key AI, computing and digital assets.

The partnership aims to develop an integrated AI ecosystem spanning data centers, high-performance computing, cloud platforms, advanced models, applications and industry-specific solutions.

HUMAIN plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030 to meet growing regional and international demand for computing infrastructure. The company also aims to become a major exporter of AI capabilities and services.

Launched in May 2025, HUMAIN is developing capabilities across four areas: next-generation data centers, high-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, advanced AI models, and AI-powered solutions.

Its portfolio includes ALLaM, a multimodal Arabic large language model designed to support Arabic-language AI applications.

PIF said the partnership aligns with its 2026-2030 strategy to strengthen economic integration, expand private-sector participation and develop Saudi companies into globally competitive businesses.

Yazeed A. Al-Humied, PIF deputy governor and head of MENA investments, said combining the two shareholders’ AI portfolios under HUMAIN would support talent development, technological advancement and intellectual property creation.

For Aramco, the investment is expected to provide access to advanced AI infrastructure and create opportunities to commercialize its existing digital and AI assets.

Aramco president and CEO Amin H. Nasser said the company had generated $11.3 billion in technology realized value since 2023, with a significant portion attributed to AI solutions.

He said the partnership would strengthen Aramco’s position as a technology player while supporting the localization and wider deployment of AI systems in Saudi Arabia.
