Oman looks to tap Brunei for cooperation

Oman and Brunei’s foreign ministers discussed joint investment.

Oman has reached out to Brunei to push for cooperation in a number of fields, with special focus on joint investments, according to official sources.

The happened during a meeting between Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi and Brunei Darussalam’s Second Foreign Minister Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.

The virtual meeting was reportedly held on the sidelines of the 76th meeting of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the ministers stressed on their keenness in promoting cooperation in various fields, especially in areas of joint investments.

They also exchanged views on regional and international matters of common interest.

The two sides are also said to have underscored their support to all efforts exerted to cement pillars of peace and stability in the world.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, the Sultanate’s ambassador to Brunei, said the reports.

Oman has also reached out to several countries for cooperation for the past few months.

Just last month, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry or OCCI discussed with a visiting Austrian delegation the ways of upgrading economic cooperation and establishing joint investments.
