UAE, Vietnam sign agreement for cooperation in arts, culture

  • The MoU would also foster cooperation between libraries and participation in cultural and artistic activities and events in the two countries
  • The UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth signed the MoU with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

The UAE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vietnam for cooperation in culture encompassing antiquities, heritage, arts and libraries, official sources have said.

The two countries agreed to support cultural, creative industries and talented people, exchange knowledge, understand each other’s culture, and activate cultural dialogue and meetings to foster a greater national identity among each other’s people, said the sources.

The MoU is expected to also foster cooperation between libraries and participation in cultural and artistic activities and events in the two countries.

Through the MoU, the two sides reportedly seek to exchange experiences to facilitate the implementation of international agreements under inter-governmental agencies such as UNESCO and other international conventions related to culture, arts, and libraries.

The two countries will also apparently seek to protect intellectual property rights, and also agreed to host cultural events, facilitate public participation in such events and cooperate in the sustainability of cultural and creative industries.

The UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, represented by Under-Secretary Mubarak Al Nakhi, signed the MoU with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, represented by Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong.

Al Nakhi stressed the importance of cultural convergence between different people and promoting dialogue as well as the importance of creative industries in economic development.

He reiterated that this is the best time to explore cooperation in the creative economy and establish common platforms and initiatives to explore investment opportunities in these sectors, which would lead to stronger ties between the two countries.
