Kuwaiti Camel Racing Club sports season 2022-23 begins

  • More than 300 participants of all ages participated in Saturday's race, which contributed towards increasing the number of camels in the event. the organizers said.

Kuwait–Activities of the local sports season of the Kuwait Camel Racing Club for 2022-2023 season begun on Saturday at Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah racetrack. The activities  included nine runs.

More than 300 participants of all ages participated in Saturday’s race, which contributed towards increasing the number of camels in the event, said Hussain Al-Dawwas, head of the championship’s committee.

This season will last for seven months and will be held on a weekly basis, Al-Dawwas said and added that the club intensified its preparations in all organizational, administrative, arbitration
and other arrangements.

The 2021-2022 season, which was held at Al-Shaheed Fahd Al-Ahmad Square, saw a total of eight races for camels of different ages. The club’s assistant secretary Mohammed Al-Hajri had said  Kuwait camels have participated in a number of international championships in Gulf and Arab countries.

In February this year, the 20th International Camel Race tournament was held at Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah racetrack. The event saw the participants from GCC and other Arab countries.
