Online food delivery infra a necessity now

Food delivery is becoming increasingly common as a service.
  • The explosive rise of online food delivery is forcing restaurants to change how they operate
  • Restaurants needed to survive through the pandemic, and now they need to stand out from the competitors

Many businesses considered delivery and online ordering to be nice-to-have services prior to the lockdowns.

However, with Covid-19 restrictions, restaurant owners realized that being online is the only way to survive.

Deliverect Middle East General Manager Naji Haddad

“The delivery sector has become critical to the hospitality industry’s survival,” Deliverect Middle East General Manager Naji Haddad told TRENDS.

“We’ve seen restaurants change their approach, being imaginative in terms of engaging clients through internet channels by being online on several platforms, organizing special offers and giveaways,” he said.

“Even though Covid-19 increased online ordering, this was a transformation that was already underway and will continue in the coming years,” added Haddad.

The fast-growing startup saw a significant increase in its customer base during the pandemic as most eateries embraced new technologies to assist internet deliveries.

It processed over 30 million orders in the previous year alone, and currently processes over 1 million orders each week on average.

The explosive rise of online food delivery is forcing restaurants to change how they operate.

“Restaurants were looking for methods to survive throughout the pandemic, and now they are looking for solutions that will set them apart from the competition,” said Haddad.

“In addition, they are looking for solutions to assist in integrating the various online ordering and delivery channels to their POS system while automating most of their activities, which is where we come in,” he added.

Simplifying online order management

Deliverect connects third-party delivery platforms and food businesses around the globe.

It integrates third-party food ordering platforms into the restaurant’s point-of-sale system, making rekeying orders and the costly errors that come with it a thing of the past.

The startup simplifies online order management for over 16,000 businesses in 30 markets, and it is currently investing heavily in the region by assuring local presence, opening regional offices, and hiring a staff of highly skilled professionals.

“We’re neither a delivery provider nor a POS system,” he stated. “We bridge the gap between them. To help businesses, we manage their food delivery and takeout operations more efficiently, by integrating their food ordering channels in their existing POS.”

Deliverect connects Zomato, Deliveroo, Talabat, and more delivery platforms directly to the restaurant ePOS system, ending operational delivery management issues while providing analytics and consolidated reports to help restaurant owners make educated decisions.

Additionally, Deliverect provides restaurants with solutions that are easy to use.

For example, its menu builder system enables the operational team to quickly build a menu and push it live on multiple delivery platforms and for various locations.

They can also make any changes or updates to the menu and from one dashboard that goes live into all delivery channels.
