The governments Qatar and France have signed in Doha a Memorandum of Intent to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of labor, official sources have said.
The deal was signed on Sunday, March 27, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO), said the sources.
The memorandum was signed by Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Labor Mohammed Hassan Al Obaidli, Ambassador of the French Republic to the State of Qatar Jean-Baptiste Faivre, and President of the ILO Office in Doha Max Tunon.
The memorandum apparently comes within the framework of the cooperation strategy implemented by Qatar with various governments and international organizations to exchange expertise and the best international experiences in the field of labor.
It reportedly aims to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and the French government in cooperation with the ILO in the fields of labor.
This is expected to happen through the exchange of information, the exchange of delegations and experts, the strengthening of technical cooperation between specialized public institutions, the exchange of expertise, experiences, and the consultations on implementation and development mechanisms.
The memorandum will reportedly enhance cooperation between the three parties in a way that supports the continued development and modernization of the legislation and laws that Qatar has introduced in the labor sector in recent years.
Under the memorandum of intent, the three parties will exchange information, experiences and the best practices in the field of establishing labor committees in private sector companies.
Through it, they will also organize joint visits, and enhance the technical cooperation between the competent authorities through the cooperation of the authorities responsible for training labor inspectors in Qatar and France.
