Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Farnborough International Airshow 2022, held over 5 days in the United Kingdom, concluded Friday 22nd July.

The General Authority for Military Industries led and organized the Saudi pavilion under the slogan “Invest in Saudi.”

National company for defense industries in the kingdom, SAMI, inked a deal with Airbus Helicopters Arabia, the pavilion said.

The deal is expected to help SAMI build its technical capabilities to provide support for helicopters of the Saudi Armed Forces.

SAMI also signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin while also signing a set of strategic deals with the Singapore’s company ST Engineering.

It will provide support to SAMI in the production of advanced defense systems and the implementation of its strategies for development in various defense equipment and capabilities.

General Authority for Military Industries said the Saudization rate in the sector increased, surging from 2% in 2018 to 11.7% in 2021.

This includes multiple military and defense systems and the development of new capabilities contributing to supporting the process of localizing the sector.

The Kingdom’s pavilion also said the number of founding permits in the military industries sector until the end of last June reached 291 permits.

The pavilion noted 174 facilities were licensed, the share of military facilities was 41%, while the supporting facilities accounted for 42%, and 17% were for the supply facilities.
