Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have discussed exchanging expertise between them, especially in the field of accreditation and quality assurance in higher education institutions.

The meeting was held between Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) president Thafer Assaraira, and Education and Technology Sciences attaché at the UAE Embassy in Cairo, Sheikh Ammar Al-Mualla, Jordanian media reports said.

Assaraira briefed on the AQACHEI and noted its role in raising the efficiency and level of performance of Jordanian higher education institutions.

This also includes enhancing their competitive capabilities at the national, regional and global levels.

He also underlined Jordanian systems and standards of accreditation and quality, similar to those in developed countries.

Further, he discussed enabling Jordanian universities to improve their performance in order to increase their competitiveness at the regional and global levels.

The meeting covered AQACHEI’s procedures for public and private accreditation applied to all universities in the Kingdom.

The mechanism of quality assurance procedures at the institution and program level was also discussed in the meeting.

He also underscored the importance of the Jordan National Qualifications Framework.

This includes a hierarchical classification of all levels of qualifications and certificates related to higher education programs and general education.

He noted the key role of vocational and technical training with descriptions for each level to determine knowledge, skills and competencies that should be associated with the qualification.
