ABU DHABI — The enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has imbued the UAE society with a profound system of human values, resonating across all corners of the nation and extending beyond its geographical boundaries, said Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, the country’s Minister of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).

“Rooted in this legacy, the UAE’s humanitarian approach is seamlessly woven into its overarching vision and is exemplified by the noble characteristics of the country’s various initiatives. As a result, the UAE commands universal respect and admiration for its exceptional and distinctive contributions to humanitarian endeavors,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, the minister highlighted that the UAE stands as a beacon of humanitarian efforts and sustainable development.

“The nation symbolizes a hopeful future, leveraging the profound influence of generosity and human unity to enrich societies globally. This distinctive humanitarian ethos is woven into the very fabric of the UAE’s identity and vision for the future. It stems from our wise leadership’s conviction that the act of giving knows no bounds, all in the pursuit of fostering a more compassionate and kind-hearted world,” he pointed out.

“The wise directives constantly being issued by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan underscore the paramount significance of nurturing a culture deeply entrenched in humanitarian endeavors and benevolent undertakings, both within the public consciousness and governmental strategies. Through his visionary leadership, the UAE has significantly fortified its worldwide standing as a purveyor of developmental, humanitarian, and philanthropic aid. This commitment stems from our steadfast conviction that humanitarian actions stand as an influential catalyst for constructive transformation, aimed at enhancing the well-being of fellow beings and extending aid and succor, particularly during moments of turmoil and catastrophe,” Al Owais said.

“Our pride swells as we reflect upon our nation’s accomplishments in humanitarian endeavors. On this International Day, we reaffirm our commitment to continually innovate in our dedication to humanity, extending support to those in need. The UAE’s humanitarian endeavors and diplomacy have resonated globally, exemplifying unity and camaraderie to pave pathways of hope,” the minister said.

“We have always been, and will continue to be, committed to uplifting the stature of individuals and humanity at large. This ethos is deeply ingrained in our strategic direction, as outlined in The Principles of the 50, specifically in principle nine, which states, ‘Foreign humanitarian assistance by the UAE is a core component of its journey and an ethical duty towards aiding less privileged communities,” he said.
