Saudi Arabia provides US$1m in assistance to UNAOC

New York, US— Saudi Arabia has provided $1 million in assistance to the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) for supporting its work plan, activities and programs.

The kingdom’s permanent representative to the UN, Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasel, handed over the financial support to High UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos at the UNAOC headquarters.

Al-Wasel affirmed the kingdom’s appreciation for the important role played by the UNAOC and its efforts in disseminating a culture of peace and tolerance.

The ambassador praised the body for strengthening the role of multiple diplomacy, at a time when the world has an urgent need to establish the values of coexistence, build bridges of communication and spread peace.

The High UN High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations hailed the great role played by the kingdom in laying the foundations for peace and the values of coexistence and the rejection of hatred and violence.

He paid tribute to great social and cultural transformations the kingdom is witnessing, commending the kingdom’s central role in promoting the values of peace and tolerance and respecting all religions and cultures.
