The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has decided to lift the temporary ban imposed on the import of certain products from a region in Denmark, local reports have said.

The products include poultry meat, table eggs, and their derivatives, said the reports.

Saudi Arabi has been importing the products from the Central Denmark Region of the European country.

The SFDA had stopped the imports as reports of avian influenza, or bird flu, emerged from across the world.

The authority explained that the decision was based on its follow-up to international reports related to food safety in the world.

It was also influenced by reports issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

The reports apparently indicated that the highly pathogenic bird flu does not exist in that region.

Saudi Arabia and Denmark have a strong food trade, bolstered further by a 2010 bilateral treaty.
