European shared micro-mobility provider TIER Mobility has launched its e-scooter service across different locations in Bahrain, it said in a post on social media.
This move came as part of TIER’s ongoing expansion plans in the Middle East, local reports have said.
TIER launched its services in the country — its third country in the Middle East and 14th overall — through a collaboration with Bahrain’s official authority, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications.
To celebrate its launch in the city of Manama, TIER will reportedly offer first-time riders two complementary unlocks and 30 free minutes added to their account when registering with the code “TIERBAH”.
To use a TIER scooter, riders may download the app, select an e-scooter on the virtual map and unlock it by scanning the presented QR code.
To end the ride, users may utilize TIER’s virtual parking system, where they need to locate a designated safe parking spot and click on the “End Ride” button.
Users will also reportedly have the option to unlock their e-scooters with an unlock fee of BD0.3 ($0.80), followed by ride charge of BHD0.1 ($0.27) per minute.
Riders will apparently be able to make payments through a debit or credit card.
TIER has also recently launched the subscription-based package Rider Plus, which offers users discounts of up to 50 percent for their rides, said the local reports.
TIER’s e-scooters have the longest lifespan in the market and come equipped with an array of state-of-the-art safety features that ensure the smoothest and safest rides.
The e-scooters are expected to operate on a 24/7 basis, and will be located at residential and commercial spots around Manama.
