DUBAI: Children below the age of 12 and exempted from taking Covid-19 vaccine shots in Saudi Arabia can take part in recreational activities in open spaces under certain conditions, the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has said.
Such children must be accompanied by immunized adults, should be free from flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat), and their health status in the Tawakkalna App must confirm they are not infected and have not come into contact with an infected person, local media reports said.
But the restrictions preventing children from participating in recreational activities in closed places will continue. The GEA said only the children immunized with at least one dose or have recovered from the virus can enter such spaces.
Earlier, GEA guidelines stipulated only 40 percent of open recreational spaces were open for recreational purposes and only immunized persons could enter.
Saudi Arabia on Thursday reported nine more COVID-19-related deaths, taking the overall toll to 8,366. The reports said. There were 751 new cases, meaning that 535,927 people in the country have now contracted the disease. A total of 10,182 cases remained active, of which 1,407 patients are in critical condition.
