Baghdad, Iraq– The head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce – FICC, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, called on the government to move towards German companies in the field of construction and infrastructure development, while stressing that Iraq needs to develop trade relations with Germany.
Iraqi News Agency reported that a delegation from FICC and the Federation of Iraqi Industries participated in the meetings between the two parties during the visit of PM Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to Berlin.
A number of strategic cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries in addition to the expansion of cooperation field in all sectors and intra-trade exchange, in order for the two countries to become true strategic partners in all fields.
“The Iraqi delegation seeks to encourage German companies and businessmen to invest in Iraq, especially since Iraq now needs a comprehensive reconstruction in all sectors. In addition to that, is to develop trade relations with Germany, especially as it comes at the forefront of developed countries at the industrial and agricultural levels as well as the production of goods,” a statement by FICC.
“The development of new commercial regulations serves both parties due to the depth of the historical relationship between the two friendly countries, and Iraq’s endeavor to develop relations with it, especially in the economic aspect,” it added.
Al-Zuhairi said, according to the statement, that “there is a pivotal role for the head of the Iraqi Federation of Industries, Adil Ekab, in stating the real desire to cooperate with the German side in attracting German factories and activating partnership contracts and expertise to develop industrial capabilities”.
